Nonlinear Pulsations of Convective Stellar Models
We review the numerical modelling of the nonlinear pulsations of classical variable stars with hydrocodes that include the effects of turbulent convection. Despite their simplicity these turbulent convective recipes appear to remove many of the difficulties that radiative codes faced. In particular, the numerical modelling of double mode pulsations has become possible.
متن کاملSpinning Instability of Gaseous Detonations
We investigate hydrodynamic instability of a steady planar detonation wave propagating in a circular tube to three-dimensional linear perturbations, using the normal mode approach. Spinning instability is identified and its relevance to the well-known spin detonation is discussed. The neutral stability curves in the plane of heat release and activation energy exhibit bifurcations from a low-fre...

متن کاملA non-adiabatic analysis for axisymmetric pulsations of magnetic stars
This paper presents the results of a non-adiabatic analysis for axisymmetric non-radial pulsations including the effect of a dipole magnetic field. Convection is assumed to be suppressed in the stellar envelope, and the diffusion approximation is used to radiative transport. As in a previous adiabatic analysis, the eigenfunctions are expanded in a series of spherical harmonics. The analysis is ...
متن کاملConvective Burning of Gaseous Fuel Pockets and Supercritical Droplets
The present paper is concerned with combustion of an initially spherical kernel of cold fuel, which in a hot oxidizing atmosphere is suddenly put into motion. The investigations are within the framework of an axisymmetric geometry and the flame-sheet model. After a brief description of the aerodynamics of the burning process, including deformation and breakup of the fuel kernel, attention is fo...
